So before day two I would like to thank Heath and his family last night for giving my extra matches for my camp fire and even offered me an extra mug light. He told me he had that flash light extra and thought I would need it but I did declined him since I do have plenty of light source including all the devices I had and not only that I know it was really nothing for him to give me the light but the matches was too overwhelming enough for me that I felt like am already imposing too much. It could just be my personality. But I found a big respect from him knowing that he was from the air force and have serve this great country well. Well done Heath I salute to you and your family
Day 2 came close to a disaster. I started my day late. Why becuase I was concern on checking out at 10am with the office it threw my whole day off. I am becoming more clock worth with time awareness. I knew I would wake up early but thought about the time the office opend so I went back to sleep.
I woke up at 8am and started slow. I ran into Heath and asked him about the check out time. He told me you can just leave as soon as your ready. Hearing this it was just hand in the face. I quickly started packing up it was close about 9am when I left camp and started heading to Philadelphia.
The drive to Philly and reaching Philly was interesting. The drive there was great. I did not run to any trouble except for the fact that I got lost at some point. But I realize it was really part of the trip to get lost so I did learn from it was I keep track of my phone now once I hear a trail it trying to lead me. Once I reached Philadelphia I had to do a a quick stop at a Starbucks get some coffee and start working. I arrive there at 1pm and this made think again.. “If I stop here for an hour or two. I will get to my camp site late and maybe their office is closed and I won’t be able to check in” this idea stayed in my head while I was driving around the historical site and their downtown area. Good thing I just captured most of it by my video camera. I even tried to stop to a coffe shop and attemp to start working my laptop. Then it hit me, the charger was at the bottom of my pack which means while am on the side street I’ll have to unpack, pack and head to the coffee shop. Just idea of loading and loading again just made me say “There’s is no way I’ll do that and waste more time . I shoved my laptop back and started heading to French Creek National Park.
Philadelphia is a beautiful city but you can see the bad are and the good ares. A great example is one main road Germantown Ave. This is a main road that runs through Philadelphia from a historical area to their downtown area. But at some point of the road you’ll actually run into a bad neighborhood in which house about half a mile are boarded up and rotting away. This kinda bugged me how a rich city like Philadelphia would have a problem smack in the middle of a main road. But in all I got some good photos and recorded some great stuff
The drive to French Creek kept my anxiety up. It was 3pm and I was still close to an hour to reach it. I by pass all shops around me and restaurants. Knowing from day one I’ll end eating jerky again I committed myself at not stopping and head there asap before their office close. The GPS kept on giving me a direction to a trail. I skipped so many to,e that I had to actually drive away near the route for the gps to reroute me. It worked but it made me do quick stops to check my phone

I finall reached my destination and pass 4pm already. With enough sun light I started my camp and thought about running to a small town about less than an hour away. I took out the this I would not need and left inside the tent. One thing I left also was my gas tank. It was still full and my gauge was saying its just below full. Knowing this I thought to myself “I can make it to that town and get some service and Internet. I only decide to take with me my electronic devices to charge then and at the same time do some work and post things. The closest Starbucks was about 45 min. This made me decide to leave my gas tank behind. Big mistake…. After 10 min out from the camp about 5 miles r so the scooter slowed down and I knew it was the gas. I started cursing the hating myself for leaving the tank. I started pushing the bike about 100 ft and looked in to cars passing by and see if they will stop. And from no where a truck pulls over on the other side of the road and ask me if I need help. I told him I ran out of gas and is there anyway he can spare me some. His truck runs on diesel and won’t work on my scooter. He then aske me “How heavy is your bike we maybe lift it behind my truck.” I replied “Its heavy” he raised the front tire to about 1 foot and went to the back and attempted it. I asked his name and told me Jeff and introduced myself as well. He then asked me “What do you suggest we do?” I asked him if he drive me to a gas station or better head back to my campsite and get my 4 gallon tank. Then he instantly told me “Lets push your bike on the side of the road and hop on. We’ll pick up your gas tank.” Walking back to his truck he told me “I understand how to run out of gas it happened to me plenty of times.” He then whips out this card and I saw he is an outdoor /bike enthusiast as well. It was racing through my head this guy did this already at need to talk to him to gain some new insight and guidance. We picked up my tank and refuel it coming back to his truck I asked him and his friend if I could ask them for dinner. He told me that he was going to meet his brother but maybe breakfast, if it doesn’t rain. He drove away and the fact that he mentioned rain struck me “Rain?? How I checked the weather and rain only in the mornings..” I thank him again and got excited to meet another biker traveller. I looked up and I saw a dark cloud just rolling in. I decided not to go to the other town and decided to head back.
When I got back at my site I took out my tank and fill up my scooter since the nozzle doesn’t work right I have to use the cap and spilled out my gas. It did the work and started my fire but soon after I got my fire camp started it started to rain and it killed my fire. So now no fire means no water. Since it was raining I planned to use it with my advantage. I set up rain collectors for my water and serve as my water for the rest of the night.
Resting inside my tent Jeff send me a message that he was on his way. He parked on my spot and while it was raining shared a beer. I asked him if I can document our whole conversation and he agreed. We talked about stories and gave me a lot of pointers and things that I may want to visit heading down south. After a while the rain calmed down and we decided to call it a night. I checked the interview and believe it or not it was a 3 min recording because the camera had no more battery left. Bummed out I just told myself that was still some good stories
