I got up late and took my time before I left Alejandro’s place. It was already 2pm he asks me “what time will you reach Georgia? I told him “I think I’ll be there late like 1am.” He looks at me “That late? Are you sure you don’t wanna stay?” I told him “the weather is so good today I know I’ll get there in good time and since he is my uncle I can get there late he won’t mind.” I thanked Alejandro again and went went down to my scooter. I put in the address of my uncle’s house to make sure that even if I loose service I’ll be set on my GPS.
The road was great and I had less turns. I choose the route that I came from Charlotte and took the same route. The GPS asked me to take highway 29 and apparently this leads all the way to Atlanta. Not even 3 hours in I wasalready feeling  exhausted . It could be with the less sleep and the alcohol from the other night. I saw a bridge with water and I saw a sign “Welcome to South Carolina” I finallyed crossed the state line. I wanted to stop but there were stoping at the bridge but at least I was able to video the whole bridge with the lake. I stopped at a McDonald’s and started working on the computer. After an hour or so I agreed myself and pushed on.
The GPS was still leading metro take route 29. I most probably hit about 4 to 6 towns along the way. And I was thinking already of cutting it short and get to a state camp near the border of Georgia and South Carolina. I stopped at another McDonald’s and ate and got a short break. A trucker asked me if that was my scooter. I answered “Yes sir.” He then asks me “you drive that all the way from NY?” I answered him “Yes sir.” He shook his head and tells me “That’s a long drive.” I then answer ask him “How far s Athens from here?” He sad about 60 more miles. I thought to my self “Thats another 8 hours I should make this quick and head back on the road.” I thank him and finished my food.
I got in the road and called up my uncle it was almost 6pm and I told him I might get there late around 1am or so. He then answered back “Call me when your in Athens.” After a mile or so I saw the sign bored “Athens 62 miles” I smiled and said to myself “The trucker was right.” I went straight ahead and the road got much more open and I was already averaging 45-50 mph. And before you know it I saw the state line that crosses to Georgia state.
The state line from route 29 is actually a dam for the Mississippi River. Again I missed the sign post of the state line and just went on but since it was a state park I knew I can stop and just take a quick photo. The dam was super clean and people are even on the edge of it dipping on the water. This was almost 8pm and the sun was coming down fast. I felt the cold breeze already and placed another lining on my jacket. Each time I pass by in the sign to Athens I knew I was getting closer on fast track schedule. And before you knew it sun was completely gone and I was already in Athens.
Athens is the home of University of Georgia. I was able to to the main district that there were bars after bars next to each other. But I couldn’t stop now. It was close to 10 pm and I still have another 20 miles to go. I then call my uncle and told him I am in Athens. He then replies “That’s fast how long now before you get here?” I told him “Another 45 min to an hour.” He directs me to the fastest route and in 30 min I was already at his house.
I would probably never push it that much. The roads were pitch black because backroads do not have light posts. All would just rely on you headlights.
I rang the doorbell and the garage door opened for me. I greeted my uncle and to my surprise one his friends was also staying with him temporarily, uncle Jo. Dinner was already ready and sat down and ate. While enjoying dinner they mentioned to me I got darker and asked me if I had a full jacket. I answered them “Yes I do but I do walk around a lot and stay under the sun while am resting or taking a small break.” Then they asked me again “so how long are you planning to stay?” I replied “I’ll be here the 4th of July but the next day I’ll be hitting the road.” I told them some of my stories along the way and called it a night around 1am.

Uncle nestor is not really my blood uncle but in the Philippines your parents friends are your uncles also. These guys were the first friends when I got here in the States. I can pretty much hang out with them because I’ve known them for more than 10 years.
I prepared breakfast and after that they asked me if I wanted to go to to the YMCA with them. I told the, am skipping anything today to recoup. They told me “Ok but tomorrow lets go to the mall and eat out for lunch. I stayed in bed and waited for them to come back. While waiting I saw a weight scale and thought. “I think I lost some weight. These pants look loose as usual.” I weight in and I was 116lbs. I already lost close about 5lbs on the road. When my uncles got back I told them I lost weight already. They then tell me “Oh we can fix that”
The following day before heading to the mall. They told me “Lets go to a buffet you’ll need to gain back what you’ve lost.” We went to an Asian buffet and hearing that I lost weight I know I need to eat to gain it back and actually gain more since after this I won’t have any more relatives to visit along the way. This will be my last chance to store some extra weight for the long road ahead of me. The buffet was great and I loaded myself with all seafoods. I was pretty much stuck to the canned good and rice diet. They were so surprised that I was able to eat as much like my uncles. We rested for a bit and decided to get coffe at the mall.
I’ve seen malls and I don’t know why it’s the second largest mall in the U.S. But from the set up you 4 giant department stores set up as wings connected to the main mall, with said its kinda huge. We around a bit and talked while sipping coffe. I asked them if we can stop by at h&m. They both said “What’s that?” I was confused by this answer and asked them is there an “H&M in Georgia?” Uncle Nestor answers “I don’t really know” in my head I was already questioning it “How is it possible that one of the biggest clothing retailer store will. I looked it up on the directory and they do have one located at the second floor. I told them to come with me because I needed a pair of pants
When I left New York I took two of my fav black Jean pans. But with the sun just tortuting it, believe it or it faded and turned a bit brown now. I wanted a pair that I can wear and worry about the sun fading it. When I was lining up I saw them with clothes on their hands also. Both of them were so satisfied with the quality of the fabric and the design. They were blaming me now since they did not expect to buy anything and ended up buying more than what I had.
We went home and I cooked dinner for them. They told me that we would go to a state park and Athens to tour me more. I agreed and went to bed.
