routeAfter four days waiting and deciding what to do with the trip. I made up my mind to push on. I’ve asked several mechanics and their opinions about how about to approach the problem and fix it. Sandy from Celtic customs told me if you rode the scooter and it feels ok it should be rideable to your next destination. From riding it to see other mechanics it doesn’t really feel like it’s about to split in half. I quickly called the trucking company to cancel the pick up and decided to head to the next camp ground and see another mechanic that can work on it.
The drive wasn’t so great. The handle bar was crooked to the left and the scooter wasn’t producing the same power like it used to. As soon as I hit the gas it responds and then it reaches its limit and I would hear the engine skip. Not to mention my speedometer is not even working I don’t know what speed I was going when it does that. But I can tell something is choking the engine….
After a 2 hour drive I didn’t stop at the camp site. I went to a small town to see a mechanic that runs a small moped scooter shop. I parked outside his shop and looked around. Then across the street someone shouts. “Hey you! You need any help?” It’s an old man with another middle aged man. I would say this guy is about 70 or so but he is still very sharp. He then asked me “What make is that scooter?” I told him it’s an Icebear meddle series… He then told me “I have one ice bear product right there but I am not a sole distributor though.” I saw the Icebear moped which runs on electric and was glad that me can actually get the arts I need. We talked about what my problems were and he said “We can tweak it most probably. Without getting most of the parts. A lot of the probelms with the scooter are bent things on the frame and missing bolts. I introduced my self and he introduced himself as Earl. He gave me his card and told him I would appreciate it if you can help me out on this one.
Things that need to be replaced though is the triple tree, a new signal light and maybe the shocks also. He told me “Bring it in tomorrow morning at 10am and we can dismantle the front and have a better idea what to order.” So I then told him “I’ll be back tomorrow morning then. You guys can work on it and I’ll stay in town and walk around” I even told him hey if you let me camp at your garage I wouldn’t mind that either. He asked me where I was staying. I told him I am staying at the national park camping.

I raced to go to Walmart to get me supplies for the camping. I bought s mall bag of rice and some canned good to replenish me more while I wait for the repairs. I went back to the Shenandoah national park. The town was about 10 miles from the park and from the park. When I arrived the park I asked the park ranger. “From this point what’s the closest camp ground?” She then pointed two things one is on the northern part of the ark which I already passed and its 10 miles the next one is about 20 miles. I then asked her again.. “Well which is close to everything?” She then replies “Well the southern campsite which is 20 more miles has more attractions” I thank her and went on for another 20 miles.
While riding I was already thinking… “Why did I choose the 20 miles? It’s definitely more inconvenient going to town.” I was already half way and just decided to stick with it. Upon entering the park since I did not have any reservations you’ll only going to have limited options. But luckily I was able to find a spot that close to the entrance. It’s the campsite 2 which was not taken and even had a food storage to keep the bears out.
I set up my tent and unpack my things. Since I was close to the entrance most of the amenities were also close. This includes the shower, laundry, water fountain, and the bathrooms. This was a win win spot. I then decided to do my laundry and set a camp fire. I replenished myself with water and snacked on an apple. I started to cook the rice and opened some Vienna sauces and put them all on the fire. This came out really good!! But the rice took time and I had to use portable stove to cook it. The fire wasn’t building up much and I did t want to make a big one since the forecast mentioned it might rain…
When the rice was done I enjoyed my dinner and rested for the coming day.
